The bumps and hollows in the area between the 10th and 15th greens were originally thought to be Neolithic flint mines. Evidence now suggests that chalk was extracted here for agricultural purposes. The green sits on the top of a plateau that falls away steeply into this old mining area.
A tee shot to the right of the fairway and the slope should bring your ball to the bottom of the valley. An uphill approach shot from a sloping lie and a yardage that plays longer than you think, demands good technique. Miss the green left and a certain bogey looms.
