Benjamin Bennett II was a prominent local businessman and the Town brewer. His brewery was sited on the corner of Chiltern Road and High St North. He loaned the Club £300 at 4 percent interest so that the club could purchase its original clubhouse and 13 acres of land. He was made Club President in 1906; the position he held until 1911.
